FAQ's

Camps fill up fast! Essays accepted starting Jan. 1st for summer camps.

What are the dates for the year?

The Youth Hunting Club of Minnesota runs four (4) camps a summer.

The dates of camp change each year, but we typically have one beginner camp in June generally the week after school is out.

We also have two camps in July. The first July camp is an Advanced camp that typically starts the Sunday after the 4th of July. The second July camp is generally the boys/girls camp with beginner boys and beginner to advanced girls. This camp week has the most fluctuation in dates. In the past, it has been back-to-back with the previous camp week; however, for the last several years, we’ve taken a week off between the July camps.

The last camp of the season typically starts on the first Sunday of the month and may fall within the first or second week of August

These dates are subject to change, however, hopefully this may help you in your summer planning.

What if my child has special dietary or medication needs?

If your child has special dietary needs, we do our best to work with you. Whether your child is allergic to peanut butter or cannot eat pork, we plan our meals to allow for alternatives without drawing any unnecessary attention to your child’s dietary restriction.

During our parent meeting when your child is dropped off at camp, we will identify a counselor responsible for medication administration and ask that you give your child’s medication to that counselor. Please label the bottle or bag of medication with the child’s name, dose, time administered and medication name.

How much does it cost?

While we have scholarships available for campers, our program relies on families making tax deductible donations to our program in an amount they can afford. With that said, no camper will be turned away because of a financial hardship.

What are the age limits?

The minimum age for campers is 12 years of age. The maximum age is 16 years of age.

Can girls attend camp?

Absolutely! We have a girls camp for third camp week in mid-July. The girls have their own bathroom and separate sleeping area.

How will I know I've have been accepted?

Once we receive your child’s essay, we will send an email notifying you that the the essay has been received. Depending on when the essay is received and whether your child is a new or returning camper, your child should be notified by email within 3 weeks or by a predetermined date communicated by email.
